مخنّث (Mukhanath)

"sissy / effeminate / queen"

A man who is effeminate in manner, speech, or appearance. From the root 'kh-n-th' related to softness or bending. In classical Arabic, 'mukhanathun' were a recognized social category — men who took on feminine roles in early Islamic Medina. The Prophet's household reportedly included mukhanathun. In modern usage, all that history is flattened into a simple homophobic insult: you act like a woman, which is shameful.
