Finnish swear words
hintti
A homosexual man.
hinttari
An extended version of 'hintti', equally offensive.
persreikä
Anus. Used precisely like 'asshole' in English to describe a horrible person or place.
kyrpänaama
Someone with a face that resembles, or has the qualities of, a penis.
hevonvittu
Used to describe a place that is extremely remote, desolate, or terrible.
perkele
The ultimate, most iconic Finnish swear word. Originally the name of the pagan god of thunder, later co-opted by Christians to mean the devil.
vittu
Female genitalia. The most commonly used swear word in modern Finland.
saatana
Satan. The second most powerful religious swear word after short perkele.
paska
Feces or something of terrible quality.
helvetti
Hell. An everyday curse of frustration.
jumalauta
A contraction of 'Jumala auta' (God help me).
kusipää
Someone with piss in their head instead of brains. An arrogant, annoying, or cruel person.
vittupää
A harsher, more vulgar version of kusipää.
mulkku
Male genitalia. Mostly used entirely as an insult towards a person.
kyrpä
A more vulgar, anatomical word for a penis than mulkku.
huora
Prostitute. A heavy insult generally directed at women but also used broadly to demean.
perse
The buttocks. Often used to describe something going wrong ('Meni perseelleen' = It went on its ass / It failed).
kulli
Another word for the male member. Slightly more comedic or boisterous than 'kyrpä'.
